"Motion to Play" Recap

Thank you to all of you who managed to make it out to our mid-semester "Motion to Play" concert this past Friday! We had a great time, with many fantastic musicians, plenty of delicious free food, and good conversations. We heard amazing music from Chris Weir, Jilly Jefferson, Molly Roy, and Rivers. We also heard from Emma Carroll, VP of Community Connection, about an awesome opportunity we have to get involved with the Oakland Children's Hospital, getting together and playing music for the kids there. Finally, we announced that our big end of the year "Rock Your Reality" concert will be December 10th.

We had a great turnout. Around 70 people in total showed up, and we truly enjoyed getting to meet you all. Remedy is as much about community and building leaders as it is about concerts, so we would love to get to know every one of you through our other events and through your involvement as a Remedy artist or team member.

All in all, the "Motion to Play" Concert was a great success! We will continue to keep you updated on our upcoming events, and if you would like to get involved in our leadership team or as an artist, simply reply back to this email and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We would love to have you on board our team! Thanks and have a great week!

PS: Stay tuned for more info coming soon on our trip to the Oakland Children's Hospital!

Fall 2009 Launch Concert Recap

Thank you to all of you who managed to make it out to our Launch Concert this past Friday! We had a great time, with many fantastic musicians and more free food than we knew what to do with. We heard amazing music from C.F. Bostwick, Steve Sheppers, Trevor Dean Hudson, and Chris Severn! We also partnered with FeelGood, another student organization at Cal, who served delicious grilled cheese sandwiches at the concert, with all of the profits going towards charity. By the end of the show, we had a great turnout. More than 60 people in total showed up, and we enjoyed getting to meet you all. Remedy is as much about community and building leaders as it is about concerts, so we would love to get to know every one of you through our other events and through your involvement as a Remedy artist or team member.

All in all, the Launch Concert was a great success!

We will continue to keep you updated on our upcoming events, and if you would like to get involved in our leadership team or as an artist, simply send us an email at remedymp@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We would love to have you on board our team! Thanks and have a great week!

Motion to Play - Event Recap

Hey Remedy Fans!

On behalf of the Remedy team and the ensemble of talented musicians involved with Thursday night's event, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for your enthused attendance and support at our "Motion to Play" concert. We hope this evening took some of the stress out of midterm season (or at least provided a warm shelter from the cold).

The night began with an admirable feat of hard labor that transformed a humble lounge (much like the ones from freshman year dorm life) into a hunk of burnin' love. Thanks to Kana and the incredible Event Productions team!

Jeni Chan opened the show by gracing the audience with sweet self-expression through vocals and a keyboard. The songs spoke of bittersweet romance to which we could all relate (or at least imagine), not to mention some delicious "Begionno." Chris Severn with his effortless charm strummed his way into the hearts of every female listener in the audience, only to break each one after they found out that his unforgettable lyrics were inspired by a certain very special Miss Worth-the-Long-Distance, who will be visiting from Pennsylvania this weekend!

Molly Roy's fusion of Idol-worthy vocals and Chilean-inspired strummin' brought about a wave of applause that stunned the group of drunk freshman passing by outside (yes, Jeff Wiguna attempted to give them some of our breathtaking Remedy stickers). Then, C.F. Bostwick delivered his own finger-picking arrangement that got me on my feet - this guy was born to perform. Keep it comin', Chris Frye!

Eni and friends closed up the show on two electric guitars (one of which is over 30 years old) and a trumpet. She ended on a song that could only be described as "sexy." If you can say "Sandwiches are good" in French, I suggest you get in touch with Eni.

"Motion to Play" captured the heart of the Remedy Music Project - musicianship and community. We'd also like to extend a special thanks to Jenna Levy for igniting exciting opportunities between The Rights Workshop and the Remedy Music Project.

On behalf of the Remedy team, we hope you thoroughly enjoyed the event. Check back on the website at www.remedymp.com and at our blog regularly for pictures of the event or for more updates. Please feel free to contact us at remedymp@gmail.com if you have any questions, want to get involved, or if you just want to share a genuine conversation with a group of music lovers who want to make a difference.

- Pat

P.S. - For those who were unable to attend this event for various reasons, we sincerely encourage you to stay in touch with us as we will be having more memorable events before the semester is over!
